State Patrol, transportation officials to attend Haugen town hall meeting
OLYMPIA ‹ Representatives of the Washington State Patrol (WSP) and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) will attend a town hall meeting hosted Feb. 24 in Stanwood by Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen, D-Camano Island.
The WSP and WSDOT officials will be on hand to discuss the state¹s use of cable barriers in light of a fatal crash recently on Interstate 5 in Marysville.
The town hall is scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m. at the Stanwood Middle School Cafeteria at 9405 271st Street NW. Haugen has dedicated the last half hour of the town hall to discuss the issue of crashes and cable barriers.
³We know a lot of people are concerned about fatalities on this road, and this is an opportunity to voice any concerns and ask questions of the experts,² Haugen said. ³We will also provide updates on this year¹s legislative session and field questions on pending bills and any other issues of concern.²
The meeting will be Haugen¹s second of the day. Earlier the same morning, she will host a session in Coupeville. That session will not include WSP or WSDOT officials and is scheduled for 10 to11:30 a.m. at the Coupeville Recreational Hall at 901 NW Alexander
³It¹s a privilege to represent the 10th District, and to do that well I need to know how the people of the 10th District feel about the issues before the Legislature,² Haugen said ³I look forward to addressing questions about specific legislation or about issues in general.²
