Re: Addressing Proposed Resolutions

 

 

Congratulations to everyone on a record-breaking turnout at our Legislative
District caucuses last weekend -- and I am looking forward to another record
turnout this Sunday at our Snohomish County Democratic Convention at Comcast
Arena in the Everett Events Center.  We expect this to be the largest single
gathering of Democrats in the county history!  

 

We have to be out of the Convention Center no later than 6:00 p.m., and we
have an enormous amount of work to do, so we've made two changes designed to
help you get in, and to keep the agenda moving along.  

 

1.   First, we have a simplified quick check-in process so that people will
not have to stand in long lines. Convention attendees will check in check in
by last names.

 

2.   Second, the business aspect of our Convention is to address and pass
the Platform and Resolutions.  Because so many resolutions have been
received we cannot allocate enough time to effectively consider, discuss,
and vote on all of them.  These resolutions deserve a fair hearing, and
because this can't happen in the time we will have, on Sunday we will focus
only on the county Platform.  I will adjust the time for the next quarterly
meeting, June 7, to enable us to deal with the originally scheduled
endorsement process, plus the resolutions.  

 

The Platform and Resolutions Committee will be in touch with each LD Chair
to outline the adjusted process and timelines.  This will include:

1.	The appropriate format for the resolution
2.	The number of signatures necessary to submit a resolution
3.	The new timeline for submission
4.	The number of copies to be provided for the June 7 meeting
